Hello! My name is Jon Jerome. I am the founder and proprietor of the Secure Hope software and the founder and CEO of Heroes Care.
As background, I founded Heroes Care in 2003. Over the next 20 years, the organization processed more than 40,000 requests for assistance of every kind. Two of our many Heroes Care programs included operating seven food pantries and, in partnership with three other charities, building a network of 647 outposts with over 3,300 trained volunteers that provided one-on-one support to spouses as well as deployed service members.
Heroes Care, which holds the highest ratings of the five key charity rating services, provides material (in-kind) support for over 50,000 military families annually, with more than $170 million in donations. At the same time, the not-for-profit provided over $1.4 million in cash grants for struggling military families for everything from water bills, auto payments, moving assistance, furnaces, and new roofs, to list only a few categories.
Like many charity leaders, I could not find affordable software to manage requests for assistance. The available software packages were either cost-prohibitive (I can spend that money on the mission) or were designed for another purpose and would have to undergo significant adaptations. Both were not an option.
To meet the needs at Heroes Care, one of my board members created a case management system using an Access database. This database functioned but had limitations on data collection and became slow as thousands of requests poured into Heroes Care.
Secure Hope is designed and created specifically for charities spending vast amounts of time on data retrieval, referral management, grant submissions, and grant response compliance. Secure Hope brings every charity into the 21st century. In the first six months of beta testing, Heroes Care processed over 2,200 applications for assistance with only one part-time certified case manager.
